Properties of Genus Puya Discovered!

In Essence Trials, Flower Essence Research, News, Puya on August 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm

After some time on the drawing board, the key word definition of Genus Puya came to me; making this the 11th plant group to have been decoded in terms of medicinal and energetic properties!

Coupled with the other 10 Bromeliad genera already decoded – which cover the vibrational / psycho-spiritual properties of more than 7,500 plants and species – the new find promises some very interesting… and shall I say, ‘restorative’ properties.

More on this new discovery later. For more information type ‘botanical archetype’ into the search bar on this site.

The Silver Thorn

In Flower Remedies, News, Puya on August 25, 2009 at 9:51 am

IMG_2000The Silver Thorn – Pushed, Forced. Puya venusta.

+ Spiritual evolution based upon natural growth. Allowing your higher self – and not your mind – to direct your unfoldment. Allowing yourself to unfold naturally. Growing at a rate that your soul directs.

Pushing to unfold. Always pushing yourself to change, grow, learn or better yourself. Seeking changes measured by your mind and it’s limited awareness. Tampering with your natural unfoldment. Forcing the petals of the mind open in order to reveal a better you. Bitterly angry over the constant drive to change, better and perfect yourself. Silently resentful toward yourself because of your critical approach to a natural evolution.

Unveiling The Silver Thorn

In Essence of the Times, News, Puya on August 24, 2009 at 9:56 am

IMG_2000I first came across Puya venusta ( dubbed ‘The Silver Thorn’ ) when I was working at Gardenworld. This silver leaved, star shaped plant caught my eye and was quite rare in cultivation back then. For those who visit the Melbourne Botanic Gardens there is an adult clump you can visit… but careful not to get too close as the plant has sharp spines designed to ward away predators! The Question of Why?

In Conscious Living, Flower Essence Faux Pas on August 22, 2009 at 10:23 pm

In flower essence therapy often we get caught up in ‘the issue’ we have. We can become easily mesmerized by ‘what’ is going on that we forget to ask the more pertinent question of ‘why?’

Isn’t it true, when ‘our stuff comes up’ we engage in a wrestling match, fighting against ‘what is going on for us’. While in that battle, we forget to ask why… why we are experiencing the ill feelings in the first place! Read the rest of this entry »

Let Your Environment Do the Talking

In Conscious Living on August 12, 2009 at 9:51 am

This morning a friend of mine and I were talking about her new business venture – a business that is tangibly flourishing despite it’s early days. As we got talking about it I told her about the new ‘grounding essences’ and how they work.

For the most part, we tend to use our will to make things happen in our environment. We use a kind of ‘head first, reality second’ kind of logic – an approach which sometimes works but sometimes doesn’t. Which is how we get caught up in controlling our environment so much and using will-power trying to steer our lives in the directions that we have in mind. This tends to happen because our thinking is in sync with our preferences and what we want… but out of sync with what’s actually going on.

Sub-family 3 – The Pitcairnioidieae

In Botanical Archetypes, Flower Essence Research, Puya on August 11, 2009 at 8:08 pm

IMG_7118It is suggested to read or refresh yourself with the article on The Bromeliad Family before reading this article. Although not imperative, a deeper understanding of the subject below will be gained by doing so. Click here for the article.

As discussed earlier in the article entitled “Subfamily 1 – The Tillandsioidieae”, the Bromeliad family consists of 3 sub-families – the first of which is the Tillandsioidiae sub-family. Scientists believe that plants belonging to this sub-family are among the most highly evolved plants on the planet due to their ability to directly source moisture and nutrient directly through their leaves and not just through their roots. An unusual and rare trait among plants!

The Skyflowers are 12 Years Old!

In News on August 5, 2009 at 12:32 pm

2009 07 29 019August 2009 marks the 12th anniversary of flower essence research and December 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of my growing Bromeliads.

Rather than go into the details of the journey, I’d simply like to thank those people who encouraged the work, carried some of it and otherwise shared in what has been a great experience.

( Picture… Cutting the cake at Wednesday class, July 29th, 2009 to celebrate the publishing of The Skyflowers – A-Z Guide to Bromeliad Flower Remedies. )

The Motivation to Change

In Conscious Living, Study Group on August 5, 2009 at 12:12 pm

IMG_5421Last night we discussed the subject of change in study group. We talked about two types of changes. The first type we discussed were the changes that ‘happen’ in our external environment. Events that we need to play a part in and respond to. The second type of change we talked about were the changes that we initiate, the changes we consciously choose to create so that we influence the external environment of our lives.

In short, we looked at ‘outside-to-in’ changes and then as ‘inside to out’ changes. The second of which taking up most of the nights conversation, of which ran 45 mins into overtime! Read the rest of this entry »

Wisdom of the Soul

In Conscious Living on August 2, 2009 at 11:26 am

119_1952In the self help field, if our personal plans, goals and even careers don’t work out as we imagine they should, there is an assumption that some deep, dark ‘unresolved issue’ is at fault – a hidden ‘sabotage pattern’ that is ruining our progress. This seems to be the default logic of many people-on-the-self-help-path.

But, what if that’s not the case? What if there were a healthy reason why the things we plan ( to live ) don’t happen? What if our soul were intervening in our plans and directing us toward something bigger and better? Read the rest of this entry »
