Comparing Notes with Shell Essences Australia

In Conscious Living on February 24, 2010 at 9:43 am

Yesterday I had the occasion to speak on the phone with Nancy Parker of Shell Essence fame. When she picked up the phone, I introduced myself as usual but rather than talk about the purpose of my call, I asked her “Do you have a new essences coming out?” A thought that hadn’t actually been on my mind but had crept it’s way to the fore of the conversation.

She said she did. it was a new essence made from a piece of amber ( fossilized tree sap ) that was in the shape of a dolphin. She told me the story of it’s origin and the prompts from those around her about the new remedy she was to make.

I cut in and said, “let me guess… does it do this, this and this?” “Yes”. She was excited at my ‘outsiders confirmation’ that mirrored her own keyword-insights. Read the rest of this entry »

This Site Has Moved…

In News on February 22, 2010 at 7:41 am

In  what will be it’s 3rd incarnation, the Skyflowers have now been presented on a shiny new website at Www.skyflowers-online.com. This new site will phase out the the little used .com.au site as well as this wordpress.com site.

The reason for the move is one of expansion.

The NEW skyflowers-online site will still be a blog site but the main difference is that it will be self hosted and therefore, more flexible in it’s template structure.

Final choices have been made on host providers and the theme of the website is all but chosen; of which will be a ‘minimalistic magazine style’ format. The blog component will still be there with daily postings of articles; this time with a heavier emphasis on the my integrative medicine research work. There will also be the addition of new features such as a slideshow photo gallery of photo’s, greater use of video tutorials, a flower essence database searchable by keyword  and a little later on a shopping cart feature where you can order products online.

The new site is now up but it will take some ‘tinkering under the hood’ to get the whole new design layout in place.

P.s. You will be able to better follow the blog via your favourite social networks such as facebook, myspace, twitter and youtube – that way you can stay in touch with the research project.

P.p.s. Make sure you subscribe to either the emailing list or RSS feed so that you can be altered to new posts and changes to the website as soon as they happen.

Puya Laxa

In Flower Remedies, Puya on February 10, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Puya Laxa – Squashed, Suppressed.

+ Allowing life to happen. Allowing your energy to be as it is. Allowing your emotions to find their own balance. Letting go of your internal grip and allowing your stored feelings to rise up from deep down. Freeing yourself from the tight coils of the mind and the restrictions that you have placed upon yourself. Stepping out of the knot that you have mentally tied yourself in. Letting yourself off the leash. Unleashing your energy so that you can expand as a human being and achieve your full potential.

– Pressing down hard on yourself. Squashing your energy. Forcing some of your attributes, talents or skills into the shadows. Stuffing the larger part of yourself away. Suppressed. Holding yourself in an unnatural lifestyle position. Trying to make yourself comfortable in a life that is based on your being only half a person. Screwing up your life. Being a screw up. Implementing more and more rules in your life to the point that nothing flows easily, naturally or freely anymore. Choking certain areas of your life with rules and regulations while other areas run wild and free. Clamping down on what you enjoy. Ruling over yourself. Strangling the joy out of life. Pressing down harder in an attempt to do better.

Question of the Day

In Conscious Living on January 22, 2010 at 9:15 am

Ask yourself this question today and ponder it’s meaning…

Q. What are the things that you give your time and energy to that don’t support who you are?

For Love or Money? (Part 4)

In Conscious Living on January 10, 2010 at 10:15 am

Although I’m no longer sitting in the garden asking questions of myself about my finances ( that was 4 days ago ) the answers are still bubbling up. Well, not answers, plural, but more like a continuation of the same answer – ‘don’t worry about money…’ With these 4 words came a sense of peace as well as a sense of surety; that this message is true.

The time lapse between my agonized questioning and the answer was amazing. I had spent hours that day with questions of financial insecurity buzzing around my mind. And then when I stopped, the answer to my question came to me. As if I had been speaking over it and once I had quietened my mental chatter, I heard my answer.

Since that time I have been meditating, or rather, lingering on that answer. Although just 4 simple words, the breadth of the instruction has tipped me off to other insights. Pieces of the same puzzle. Read the rest of this entry »

The Spirit of Gardening

In News on November 5, 2009 at 8:31 am

There nothing I love more than buying new plants. Whether it be recieving boxes in the post from a mail order catalogue, buying plants on ebay or raiding someone else’s collection for new treasures that they don’t want to part with – I love it all.

Many years ago when I was working at Gardenworld, I was heavily involved in the Victorian Cactus & Succulent society. There was one particular event that was held every year that I really loved going to. They called it a ‘one day happening’. It was a day where the Melbourne, Gellong and Ballarat cactus societies got together in a big scout hall and talked, sold and traded plants. It was great because you got to meet new people as well as paw through other people’s plants trash-n-treasure style! It literally took you hours to get around the hall! Read the rest of this entry »

The Past is Not the Issue

In Conscious Living on October 10, 2009 at 8:50 am

Presence Cover_000Recently I have been spending a lot of time working on my garden. Planting trees, weeding, building paths, potting plants – the place looks like a real nursery these days.

It has been a lovely time – as though I have been attending to some long, long side of myself. A part of my life that had been trampled by the schedule of need.A downshift from doing to being.

As I further delve into the nature of the ancient grass Bromeliads, the Pitcairnioidieae subfamily more and more of my time is spend ‘living life on the ground’ and doing ‘what is’. It’s been quite a journey and a real shift. No longer thinking about what I want to do and trying to aim my life in better directions with mental energy, the grass Bromeliads help you to ‘get on with it’. Not only this, the plants help to reconnect with… and then resurrect those passions and interests you may have set aside long ago in your daily ‘fight to survive’.

Long lost passion is an interesting subject. Read the rest of this entry »
